Miscellaneous Stuff

This website has evolved quite a bit in the 20+ years since I set it up. It started as a repository for musings on many different topics, but in more recent years the focus has switched to my professional writings in books, magazines and online articles. But there's still a lot of "miscellaneous" content on the site, which I'll link below to make it easier to find:

Zen Dynamics

The first "sub-site" I created was focused on the practical teachings and benefits of Zen Buddhism. It originated way back in 2002, but was significantly overhauled in 2023 when I produced a Zen Dynamics book on similar themes. Here is the link to the web site:

Astounding Science Fiction

I've always been a great admirer of John W. Campbell's Astounding magazine of the 1940s and 50s, and I set up this (now very dated looking) tribute site some time ago:

Fiction

Like many beginning writers, I was keen to try my hand at fiction when I started writing for online outlets. After a few years I realized there was simply too much competition to make any serious headway, but for what it's worth, here's a page with links to some of my fictional experiments:

A Polish Soldier in WW2

The latest addition to the site is a page of photographs relating to my father's service in World War Two:

Archive of Old Stuff

As I said at the top of this page, the site started out as a place to air my thoughts on various fortean-related topics (its name in those days being "Post-Fortean Meta-Complexity"). Here's a page with links to some of the more interesting of those early articles, on subjects ranging from Philip K. Dick and the X-Files to mathematics, quantum physics and neural networks:
